In an effort to make the quality of our trailer the best it can possibly be, I have recently purchased some new equipment that should make our trailer appear more professional. The areas I have focused on are image and audio quality.
New Camera: Canon EOS M - £350
The Canon EOS M is an incredible camera with a lot of built-in features made for video recording. It can record 1080p HD video at 25fps. What drew me to this particular camera is it's in-built auto focusing system; it is one of the quietest on the market. It has SERVO AF; which means the camera can auto focus on moving objects, without any blur or loss of quality.
New Microphone: Hahnel MK200 - £100
One of the biggest issues with our first draft of our trailer was the sound quality. Almost everybody commented on this when we sought audience feedback. It is clear that the built in microphones in cameras are not up to the task of recording professional-grade audio. That is why I purchased an external microphone, the Hahnel MK200. The MK200 features audio leveling, a 'dead cat' (or wind shield) and automatic background noise removal - so we should not be able to hear any wind in our trailer.
Hopefully these purchases will make our trailer look and sound more professional.
