Research & Planning: 'I Give It A Year' Trailer Analysis
It was recommended to me and my partner that we watch a trailer for the film 'I Give It A Year'. Just like our trailer, I Give It A Year is a rom-com film. It centres around four people; two of which are married to each other. I know, from my experience watching the film, that the trailer does not convey the series of events in a chronological order. For example; the trailer introduces the two 'distractions' for the main characters quite late on into the trailer. Even then, the trailer skips far into the film and already shows them together in questionable scenes.
I think it will be appropriate for my trailer to inherit a similar structure. I will keep this in mind when editing the trailer; I will cut scenes together in a non-chronological order. This will solve the issue that was posed in our audience feedback; that we gave away the ending to our film. I also think that this structure will allow us to be 'funnier', and thus, add the 'com' [comedy] in our rom-com.
